Bits and Pieces...

My Wonky Sampler quilt top is together. Just need to do some wonky quilting and it's ready for my demo at the Central Coast Quilt & Craft Show.

In my Thursday sewing class at All About Sewing, Sarah made a mini version of my Audrey Apron pattern for her daughter. She is 18 mths old. Isn't it adorable !!
( This pattern will be available for purchase soon )

In the Quilting Studio, I have just quilted Rhonda's yummy quilt...

.....with this fun to quilt double curl...
It looks great with the red thread on the off white background.

I have tonnes to get done, so til next time...

A little something I'm working on. It's an improvised wonky sampler.
I am doing a demonstration on improv blocks at the upcoming Wyong Quilt Show. Later in May I am teaching this quilt in a BOM class at All About Sewing.

Sorry for the photo quality. I took it with my phone....

The blocks still need the white around them. I love blue and orange together.

Have a Happy Easter.....

Work in my studio has been crazy for the last couple of months.
I have deadlines for magazines, samples for classes and the upcoming Wyong Quilt Show, long arm quilting to get done on some beautiful customer quilts and I really need to take some time to clean up the studio. Fabric explodes from the cupboards and the faeries never come to clean..... haha

I have a few things to share.
Oscar's dinosaur quilt is all finished and washed. I love the quilting. My Sister, Monique, designed the edge to edge t-rex skull. She is a very talented artist. It looks awesome and Oscar loves it.

A close up of the back.....

Before the binding went on. The weather is awful at the moment so no outside shots for now....

A stack of blocks ready to be a yummy quilt....

Some more delish fabric, Good Fortune by Kate Spain, getting cut up for a Mag....

On another note a friend of mine, Ally, has a new fun blog.
It's called "Quilting Mumma". Go over and check it out..

Til next time

Oops....I accidentally bought this.
Flea Market Fancy- legacy reprint by Denyse Schmidt
I have been doing really well with fabric purchases this year. Only buying wht I need when I need it. I really need this fabric. Well that's what I was telling myself when I hit the purchase button in my cart.

Flea Market Fancy – NEW legacy reprint! the new collection

The thing is I already have a beautiful quilt made from the original release of Flea Market Fancy, and I really think that the new release was for all the girls that missed out the first time around but you can never have too much D.S. fabric, or is that just me?

This is my original FMF quilt. Licorice Fancy. I love her and would never part with her. I only just had enough fabric to make this quilt. I used every single scrap. There is even a couple of pieces in her that had to have a join in them so I could get the pieces I needed. She lives on the chair next to my bed and she's the first thing I see every morning.

Yay for Denyse Schmidt and her beautiful fabric collections.

I have a quilt in an upcoming Quilters Companion made from one of the DSQuilts lines from Spotlight. Watch this space.....it's a really fun quilt

Good Deed in Print......

I was excited to recieve the latest Australian Homespun. Inside is a beautiful quilt called Trinket Box by Rebecca Johnson of Chasing Cottons. This is the quilt I helped her out with last year.

Bec is pregnant and at the time of making the quilt she was so unwell with all day sickness, the poor thing, she couldn't even sit upright. Bec had a deadline for this quilt so I helped her get it finished and in on time. It's very exciting to see something you have worked on in a magazine.

There is a really nice article about Bec and how she came into quilting and quilt designing. It's a good read and makes you thankful for all that you have. You can also read Bec's story on her blog.

Since doing this quilt I have 2 of my own quilts that have been accepted to be published later this year. One in Homespun and one in Quilters Companion. I can't wait to see them in print.

Wow, I haven't done a post for a little while....

Time just gets away and I have been doing so much that some days I don't know what day it is.
Yeah, sad, I know....
Anyway here is some of what I have been up to the last few weeks.

We finally had some nice weather that was beach worthy, so we took the boys to Merewether pool. This pool is massive. It is the biggest ocean pool in the Southern Hemisphere.

Yes, I don't like the sun and I don't like sunscreen so I take my umbrella everywhere with me...

Except for when I go out in our little blue race car. I have to wear sunscreen when we are out in it but that's ok because it just so much fun..
Paul & I had a day to ourselves so off we went to the Hunter Valley for a lovely lunch at Harrigans Pub.

 Paul just loves his car.

Next up...our big boy Ethan turned 15. We had a small family BBQ. The cake was a bit of a failure to look (the ganache icing separated) at but it was delicious....

Myself and my Beautiful Sister... She played with my hair like she used to when we were young. It was so nice and relaxing...

 My crazy Boys...

On the quilting front...
I quilted this beautiful quilt for the gorgeous Ena. The fabric is antiquey so a beautiful double rose pattern was perfect....

A close up...

A shot of the back...

This is a quilt I made a couple of years ago. It is a real cheater quilt. I don't know why it's taken so long to quilt it. I am slowly, when I have spare time, getting through all of my quilt tops in the cupboard and getting them finished....Yay...

I love this quilting pattern.. it suits the quilt perfectly...

WIP Wednesday....I'm Back...

This is my first week back to Wip Wednesday for this year. I really like being involved. I kind of makes me feel accountable to someone for the progress I make each week.

I have been getting samples for my upcoming classes.
I am doing an improv block of the month. Today I went crazy and got 7 blocks done. It is so much fun to just cut and sew with no pattern.

It was a fabric frenzy.....

Yummy bright blocks....

This is my favourite....

My other favourite....

My finish for this week is the beautiful Sabrina. You can read more about her here.

I am linked up over at Freshly Pieced Wip Wednesday. Go over and check it out.

Full Steam Ahead...

Well, the holidays have finally come to an end. Two boys back to school today and the big one is back tomorrow. Yay!!! Back to a routine...I love routine....

I am back teaching at All About Sewing on Thursday. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the ladies after my long summer break.

I have been steadily getting samples done for my classes and for the Block of the Month programmes that I am doing this year.

Sabrina is finished and hanging in Southern Cross Needlework at East Maitland. It will be a BOM this year and into the next year
On my bed... look at that stack of quilts over in the corner....

She is quite heavily quilted.... this is the most custom quilting I have done on a quilt. It was back breaking...but the finished quilt was totally worth it.

Every little bit is quilted.....

I love the circles around the stars.....

Happy Quilting...

Stunning Sabrina....

I have been quilting up a storm... I'm really happy with how this is turning out. I have gone a bit feather crazy. It's been fun to do. It took a while to work out how I was going to quilt it but once I started the creative juices just kept on flowing...

This will have to wait a few days now. The boys are still on holidays and we have a few things planned. Close to home but time with my beautiful boys just the same.

Hope you are having fun whatever you are doing...

Happy quilting
