Taming the Fabric....

Well, it's been a good day in the studio today.
I did lots of stipping in the background of the applique blocks and feathers in the setting triangles.
As you can see in the bottom photo I haven't yet started on the borders. The more I quilt on it the more confident I am that it will all be fine.

It should be all finished by the end of the week...yay...

A Quilt with Issues....

Today I started quilting this quilt. As soon as I started loading it up on the frame I noticed that it wasn't straight and the borders are really wavy...eeek...

I wanted to cry...oh well, I guess it's all experience...

This shows the importance of correctly measuring, cutting and attaching borders. It can be very stressful for your longarmer to get a quilt like this. We love to quilt and want to do the best job we can on your quilt tops but sometimes, when the borders are bad like this, it can be hard to hide it.

After I hit it with some steam...

I will weave my magic to ease all the extra fabric in and it will be lovely but it is quite hard to hide it.

The rest of the quilt was ok.....
.although the seams aren't pressed properly so I couldn't Stitch in the Ditch

I will show you the end product in a couple of days...wish me luck...

WHAT A WHOPPER !!!
Over the weekend I quilted this massive Asian Snowball quilt for the beautiful Josie.
It is 116 inches square and if it was even a half inch wider it wouldn't have fit on the frame.
I pulled up a bit sore after this one. Nothing a nice massage won't fix...
See how close it is to the edge...

It wrapped right over the frame...

I quilted a nice simple all over on it......

Josie chose a linen for the back. It quilted beautifully...

Thanks for looking...I will have more quilts tomorrow...

Hi there my quilting friends...

This week has been a huge catch up week. After being a slacker in the school holidays, I am behind on my customer quilts. So I got my butt into gear and I have quilted all week, even this weekend.

The first quilt I finished this week was a custom for Jody at All About Sewing (the shop I love teaching at). The design is "Midnight Roses". It is a machine embroidery Block of the Month that Jody and Gail have been running this year at the shop. I can't wait to see them all finished.

Beautiful winter sunshine streaming into my studio....

I stippled the background of the embroideries, put a swirl in the sashings and did a feather and stipple border. (It's not quite finished here)...

 The embroideries are so vibrant...

Jody was really happy with it and that's one crossed off the ever growing list.

I have finished another two and half finished another this week. I'll have more about them later.

Thanks for looking and thanks to those patiently waiting for their quilts to be done...

It's Winter school holidays here at the moment.
The boys lazing around all day and no routine are making it really hard for me to get motivated. I have tonnes of quilting to do so I better get a move on...

I"ve been MIA from here....

We have had some fun though. We went bowling last week with Archer's school friends. The big boys tagged along and had a great time bowling.

Archer's cute friends...

We headed to the Northern Beaches of Sydney for a family day. A few of us celebrate our birthdays close to each other so we combined them all for one big day out.
It was a bit chilly down by the lake...

Our 3 shaggy headed boys...

All the kids...look at all the boys!!! There are only 3 girls here and 1 in WA...

The three birthday boys.. That's my cousin Evan in the middle of my two boys...

Tomorrow I'm off to the shop for my lovely Thursday class...

Maybe I'll get some motivation from them...

A Little Spoiled...

I am a very lucky girl !!! It's my birthday next week and look what was on sale just at the right time....

I have wanted to upgrade my camera for a while now. I have done all the research and this lovely Nikon was the one that suited me best. It's a huge bonus that it was also on sale. My other camera is 8 years old and has started to play up. Very frustrating...
But that's ok 'cause I now have this little beauty...
I'm very excited about it and I look forward to sharing my pics with you.

A big thanks to my hubby Paul for spoiling me rotten xo

Hi there my crazy quilting friends...
I have had a busy but good week. Some teaching, some quilting and a little time out...

Here is a beautiful little quilt that I have custom quilted for my friend Ally...
I quilted every part of this little quilt. I think it looks fantastic...

Ally has done a pattern for this quilt. It will be available at the Newcastle Quilt & Craft Show or you can purchase it direct from Ally.

Tomorrow I am off to a Monica Poole workshop that we are having with the Central Coast Modern Quilt Guild. Twenty ladies sewing the day away and I'm not even sewing (I know, shock, horror) I am a helper for the day. With all those machines there is bound to be some problems...

Hope you all had a great week and have an even better weekend...

Archer is 8...

Our little Archer is 8 today...
He has had a nice relaxing day playing with his new toys and a visit from Ma, Pa & Aunty Trudy.

Archie enjoying a hot milo, watching a dvd...

In the afternoon we took the boys to see "Brave" at the cinema. It's a great movie. So lifelike...Then of course Macca's for dinner.
Photos taken with my phone in the dark...I think they turned out ok.

Well, thank goodness it's finally friday.
I have had quite a busy week and I'm pooped.

I quilted this pretty quilt for Josie today. It was nice to do all over quilting after two customs.
You'll have to excuse the picture quality, the weather today was a bit miserable and dark.

A pretty lattice quilt...

Double rose panotgraph...

The back...

Hopefully I might get some stitching done this weekend...

What are you up to this weekend ??

At the show I bought this fantastic little template to help me out with my quilting on my longarm. I have already used it to death. I love it. I can do so many things with it. Stitch in the ditch (accurately) and continuous curves are two things I have already done heaps of.

My new little gadget....

A customer quilt....

See the continuous curves...

Made simple with my new template...

These are some warm pants that I whipped up for Archer...he loves them and has worn them everyday since I made them...

I am slowly getting through the clothing fabric in the cupboard (so I can make room for more pretty quilting fabric)

Proud Parents....

Our gorgeous boy, Oscar, won a prize at the Weston Art Show yesterday. The funny thing is he didn't even know that he was entered. His art teacher entered it without him knowing. He got the Rising Talent Award.

Car in Flames by Oscar Harvey

What a cutie...awww Muummm...

A huge number of artworks...

Our 3 huge boys...Oscar with his $50 cheque...

Oscar loves to draw but he always thought he couldn't paint but here his is winning an award for painting. Keep up the good work matey...

The talent at the show was fabulous. There were art works from pre school to adult and everthing inbetween. These are a few that I liked...
This looked like a photo...

This looked better in real life...it had heaps of texture...

The Shearing Shed...this won a prize...

A nice modern painting...it was really calming
